I chose to have a dabble at using two patterns from Lucy's recommendation list - Picot Mandala and Flower Potholder (which you can easily adapt to a mandala). Here are the results :)
I just love the graduation of colours on the petals on this mandala. The colours, to me, are a little bit retro which I think are just great :) Again, I used DROPS Paris 100% cotton in Light Blue Purple, Denim Blue, White, Off White, Vanilla, Mustard, and for the final round Denim Blue again. The pattern suggests making two flowers and putting them back to back for the final round, but I left this bit out as it's going to be against a wall anyway. I also omitted the hanging ring.
I really, really enjoyed making both of these mandalas. Now the tricky part is choosing which one to send to Lucy to be displayed at Yarndale. To be honest, it just makes me so happy to think my little piece of art will be up on a wall with other crochet fanatics' art for all to admire :)
I hope you will have a go too and maybe send one in to Lucy (you still have a few weeks left for the deadline). You can find out on her brilliant blog what to do and for other mandala patterns to have a go at.
Have a great week my lovelies,
Cheerio for now :)
